Teaching others has been a rewarding experience. Taking classes the first time does not allow for time to truly grasp topics. Being a teaching assistant for business statistics for the fourth time has allowed me to go much further into the subject matter. Also, being able to experience a different school's program for the same course has been eye opening.
I am the teaching assistant for Business Statistics at Indiana University. The students in my class are in a top 10 business school. My first time taking this course was not at this caliber of work. The difference in quality of material and students is amazing. I really never thought the difference would be so great. The speed and retention level of these students makes assisting very rewarding. Instead of spending time on mundane topics, we are able to dive in to the exciting applications of statistics.
This experience has allowed me to grow as a teacher and student. I have an appreciation for the other side of the classroom now. From a student's standpoint, a teacher's method is not always evident. It is nice to gain this experience in order to connect better with my professors in my own classes. I am excited to see what comes next with this assistantship.
